BackRoad Closures and Traffic Alerts website
VicRoads is responsible for providing road and traffic information to the community. On this is website you will find information about unplanned (emergency) road closures and traffic alerts. It is Victoria's official source of information about roads and traffic during incidents and emergencies that may impact road users.
If you feel you need more information or if you would like to report a road hazard, call the VicRoads Traffic Management Centre on 13 11 70 (24 hours/7 days a week).
Road Closed – this symbol is displayed when a road is closed and traffic cannot pass the incident location. Traffic will be detoured.
Traffic Alerts – this symbol is displayed when an incident is affecting the flow of traffic on a road and is likely to be causing delays.
Town Roads Closed – this symbol is displayed when a large number of roads are closed in a town or locality. Access in and around the town or locality is unlikely to be available.
Detour Route – this symbol is displayed when a preferred alternative route has been identified. Other detour information may also be included with the details of a road closure or traffic alert.
Road Reopened – this symbol is displayed in the listing only for a period after an incident has cleared and the road is again open to traffic. Any ongoing traffic restrictions will be included in the information.
